What is the Condition?
Arteriosclerosis occurs when the blood vessels from the heart to the rest of the body become hardened sometimes restricting blood flow to the organs and tissues.
What are the symptoms?
- high blood pressure [F2]
- arterial plaque can tear the artery walls and form blood clots that can lead to a heart attack [F3]
What are the causes?
- heavily or very heavily overweight, obesity [F1]
- high consumption of food fat and an unhealthy diet [F1]
- trans fats [F1]
- trans-fatty acids [F1]
- arterial plaque calcium deposits in arteries [F2]
- high blood pressure [F2]
- lack of vitamin C & E resorts to LDL cholesterol attracting calcium from blood and creates plaque [F3]
- calcium deposits create a build-up of plaque in the blood vessels which break away and can cause heart attacks and strokes[F3]
- In unbalanced diet, alcoholism, pregnancy chronic diseases: Anaemia and immune deficiency, changes in the intestinal mucosa, increased homocysteine levels favours the development of arteriosclerosis[F4]
- A chronically elevated blood sugar level – as with type 2 diabetes – leads to increased oxidative stress in the body, causing deposits to form in the arterial walls leading to arteriosclerosis. [F9]
Prevention
- vitamins K, C, E [F3]
- calcium [F3]
- remove calcium from the blood so as to prevent hardening of arteries [F3]
- diet rich in Vitamin K2 significantly reduces formation of plaque by 50% [F3]
- Vitamin D in sufficiently high doses produces the matrix gla protein
- dietetic margarine contains many good fats
- conjugated linoleic acids are only found in milk, dairy products and meat from ruminants
- Vitamin C[F10]
Treatment
- Vitamin K shown to remove excess calcium from blood [F3]
- Vitamin K2 is capable of reversing existing arteriosclerosis [F3]
- Supplementation of Omega 3 Fatty Acids, found in oily fish, walnuts and chia seeds [F8]
- Yam Root helps with prevention of arteriosclerosis with particular benefit for women respective to vascular health[F11]
Contraindications
- milk and dairy products belong in the healthy diet, however except for those who suffer from an intolerance to milk and dairy products
- Blood thinning drugs can prevent vitamin K from regulating calcium in blood[F1][Check this source]
